These volunteers provided some help in the New Haven area. They helped with some cleanup in the city park and at various senior citizens homes.
New Haven has a full slate of summer ball for all age divisions. Games are played in the city park and in some of the surrounding communities. The New Haven High School Baseball team placed fourth in the state in the 2008 1A Baseball tournament. New Haven won the state championship in 2007 and in 1987.
Gary and Judy Rice opened Astral Glass Studio and Gallery in New Haven, Missouri. They have a viewing area that allows visitors to watch the process of blowing glass. Visitors can watch the artistry of Gary along with Nick Philips and Lance Stroheker as they create a wide variety of pieces that are then available for sale in the gallery.
The New Haven Downtown Artisans hosted the Fire Festival. Artists from throughout the area demonstrated their craft at this festival.
The New Haven Riverfront Cultural Society hosts a Farmer’s Market every Thursday in the downtown area, right next to the Missouri River.
The local Lions Club holds its annual Easter Egg Hunt in the New Haven City Park. The event is open to children ages 2 through 7. It is usually held the Saturday before Easter at 1:00 pm. Pepsi Bottling Company of New Haven and the New Haven Area Chamber of Commerce host the Balloon Festival at the New Haven City Park. This annual event includes a parade and other activities for people and children of all ages. The event is held on a Saturday in mid September.
Each year, New Haven is host to it’s Youth Fair. The fair includes various activities for the youth, a queen contest, pig scramble, tug-of-war, and ends with a truck and tractor pull on Saturday evening. Every Memorial Day weekend, the local American Legion Post host a homecoming event. |
